Science Excursion to Wivenhoe Dam
Mr C Breingan - 2011-08-26 08:46:44
Last Friday (a beautiful Qld winter's day), students from Year 7 were able to visit Wivenhoe Dam and the Mt Crosby Water Treatment Plant. Michael from SEQ Water was our very enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide for the day, and the students had a fantastic time learning about the water journey, the recent floods, and hands-on activities involving water testing. I hope you enjoy the attached slideshow!

Today we had a fun-filled day with lots of activities. We all participated in a high ropes activity called Dangle Duo, had some time in the pool and games room, challenged ourselves with the Milk Crate Climb and learnt about Surf Safety including how to spot a rip and how to interpret Life Saver Signals. We also played some cool beach games that the Nippers play. We finished the day with a session led by Chaplain Sean on Leadership. Our teachers hope we all sleep well tonight (because they will!)

We arrived at camp safe and sound and raring to go. After checking out our cabins, we spent a couple of hours doing initiative activities. It was interesting to see how we interacted with each other and how some of us shone through as leaders. We went to the beach in the afternoon for a shorter-than-desired swim in the ocean. The sea was very choppy and there were a few too many blue bottles for our liking. We finished the day with showers, dinner and a movie night and then fell into bed ready for a new day. The food is great and the beds are very comfy. We are having a great time!
